Pan-Fried Pork Chops Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 bone-in pork chops (about 1-inch thick)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Pork Chops
Pat the pork chops dry with paper towels. Drying the pork chops is essential as it helps the seasoning adhere better and ensures a perfect sear when cooking.
Step 2: Season the Pork Chops
In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Generously season both sides of the pork chops with this mixture, ensuring an even coating.
Step 3: Heat the Skillet
Heat a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and butter to the pan. Allow the butter to melt and start to foam slightly, which indicates the pan is ready for the pork chops.
Step 4: Cook the First Side
Carefully place the seasoned pork chops into the hot skillet. Cook them without moving for about 4-5 minutes. This allows the pork chops to brown nicely and develop a flavorful crust.
Step 5: Flip and Cook the Second Side
Use tongs to flip the pork chops over. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes on the second side, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C) for medium doneness.
Step 6: Rest the Pork Chops
Once the pork chops are cooked, remove them from the pan and place them on a plate. Let them rest for a few minutes before serving. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, ensuring a juicy and flavorful bite.
Optional: Garnish and Serve
For an extra touch of flavor and presentation, garnish the pork chops with fresh herbs like parsley, thyme, or rosemary before serving.
